    Student Study Spaces

As a student on campus you have access to various study spaces and rooms. Some spaces are first come first serve while others can be reserved online with your UW NetID.

    Learn more here.

Hi Huskies! My name is Summer Turnberg and I'm a senior in the biomedical sciences program as well as the senior coordinator at the Center for Student Involvement. We hope you've been enjoying your summer and getting to spend time with your family and friends. We're really looking forward to seeing you back on campus this fall and figured while we're here we'd show you around and introduce you to some popular parts of campus and where to hang out in between classes.

Right now we are outside of the Mattress Factory. Here you can find the doghouse student lounge, our student newspaper, the ledger, as well as a bunch of other important spaces. Such as the Office of Admissions, the registrar's office, financial aid, Disability Resources, and so much more. This is the doghouse student lounge, a very popular spot here on campus. This is where students come to hang out with one another in between and after classes, where we have a number of activities such as video games, foosball, pool, ping pong, and an area where you can go unwind, have lunch and hang out. Student Activities Board and many other organizations often host events here as well. The doghouse Student Lounge is definitely a go to spot for a lot of students. But of course, it's not the only one. Let's show you some others.

All right, we are now at the University Y, one of my favorite spots here on campus. And actually where I work at the Center for Student Involvement office right here on the first floor. Let's go check out the inside. This is the Center for Student Involvement where I work with these awesome students and staff. Here you can access support services that increase your involvement, and connection to UW Tacoma. You can print for free access computers and connect with students involved in registered student organizations that are known as RSOs. The Student Activities Board or student government, ASUWT, the Center for service and leadership, and student publications including the ledger newspaper and Tahoma West literary magazine. You can also check out video and board games to play with your peers before between and after classes. If you have any questions at all about connecting more to our campus, our student employee team is always ready and willing to help. Let's go check out what the rest of the UW Y has to offer. Students come here for recreation and fitness spaces. We have an NCAA regulation basketball course and indoor track fitness classes, personal training, and even another game room option for you. The UW Y is another major hub here for student life.

Okay, now you've gotten to check out the UW Y. Pretty cool, huh? So now you have two great spaces to come check out this fall. And of course there are plenty more, I think it's time we show off another really cool spot here on campus. The Tacoma paper and stationary building. Follow me right this way.

Welcome to the TPS building, which was previously the Old Spaghetti Factory and though we no longer have delicious pasta dishes to offer you here, we now have an awesome newly renovated building with state of the art labs, classrooms and beautiful studying spaces. Let's go check them out. The TPS building features biomed and electrical engineering labs, a global innovation and design lab as well as an urban design studio. And there are also tons of awesome classrooms and study spaces for you here. This is another favorite spot for many students here on campus. And for those nice weather days when we want to enjoy the outdoors. We have these awesome garage doors that open up and let that beautiful sun and warm weather in. And right outside here along the Prairie Line Trail. We also have some nice outdoor seating options as well. Perfect for gathering with friends and classmates.

Actually, while we're here, let's take a look right inside West Coast grocery across from Prairie Line Trail here. WCG, also known as West Coast grocery is one of my favorite spots to grab a quick bite to eat or something to drink in between classes. West Coast grocery is our on-campus convenience store. And right outside we have a great seating area where you can eat lunch study and just hang out. We also have a microwave conveniently located here so that you can easily warm up some food or maybe grab a snack from one of the vending machines. Right down the hallway from WCG we also have another great student space along the academic block facing Pac and this spot is perfect to come for a beautiful view and quiet studying space.

Alright, that's about all the time we have today. I really hope you enjoyed this mini tour of some of my favorite spots around campus and checking out some of our awesome students spaces to look forward to this fall. Thank you so much for joining us and we'll see you soon. And as always, Go Huskies!
